We are delighted to announce that the incredible Coxless Crew, who made history by rowing across the Pacific Ocean, have joined our speakers team.
The world’s media gathered at the Marlin Marina in Cairns, North Queensland, on Monday 25 January as the team finally reached land after 257 days at sea. The six-strong team completed the 8,600-nautical mile journey to achieve three world records: the first all-female crew, the first fours boat and the fastest fours boat to row the Pacific from America to Australia.
Three members of the crew – Laura Penhaul, Natalia Cohen and Emma Mitchell – rowed the entire distance in their pink four-boat, Doris, while the others – Isabel Burnham, Lizanne van Vuuren and Meg Dyos – each joined them for one leg of the three-leg challenge. Coxless Crew aim to raise £250,000 for their chosen charities, Breast Cancer Care and Walking With The Wounded.
All six crew members will be joining Inspiring Women and we will also be project-managing Coxless Crew’s gala fundraising event later this year.
“Inspiring Women was founded to provide a platform to share incredible and inspirational stories; the journey of the Coxless Crew definitely needs to be told and heard,” said Catherine Spencer, founder of Inspiring Women. “All six of the women who have taken part in this world record feat are ordinary people who have done something extraordinary and we at Inspiring Women are hugely proud that they will be joining our speaker team.
“The Coxless Crew demonstrate that if you really want to achieve something, with the right level of determination, belief and sheer hard work, anything can happen. Whether we are looking to complete a project at work, gain promotion or put on a pair of trainers and run round the block – whatever our personal challenge is, we can take the inspiration that we can achieve if we believe.”
