Rochelle Clark, known as Rocky to her friends and the wider sports community, is quite simply a living example of someone who’s incredible passion has driven elite performance. Rocky earnt 137 caps as an international rugby player for England before retiring in 2018. With more caps then any other female rugby player in the world, more caps than any front row player in the world (male or female) and the most capped rugby player in England (male or female) Rocky has rightly earned the ‘legend’ status. In Rocky’s own words she lived the dream she had always been dreaming of.
International caps did not come easily to Rocky when she first ventured in to the sport; she was required to dig deep to lose a significant amount of weight to ensure performance at the highest level. Her coaches at the time saw potential in her but it was Rocky’s own hard work and determination that ensured her future at the top end of the sport for the next 15 years. A four-time World Cup finalist, 8-time 6 Nations champion and 2014 World Champion Rocky knows exactly what it takes to perform under constant pressure.
Accolades for Rocky have come in bucket loads along with a Rugby Players Association player of the year award and an MBE following recognition on the New Year’s Honours list.
Now retired from international duty Rocky is still playing at the top domestic level in England representing Saracens in the premiership after a stint at London rivals Wasps. When she is not playing Rocky can still be found on the pitch coaching and helped lead coach Chesham men’s rugby team to a very successful few years. She is now one of just a handful of women completing the distinguished level 4 coaching award.
Rocky is an inspiration to many for her personal determination and commitment over an extended period of time but also for her selfless devotion to the wider team. Her knowledge and understanding of performing under pressure, changes in team dynamics and effective leadership will resonate with the corporate audience whilst her stories from the pitch will enhance any after dinner occasion be it at a sports club or more informal business or school awards ceremony.
