Rochelle Clark MBE
Rugby World Cup Winner & World Record Breaker.
Rochelle Clark, known as Rocky to her friends and the wider sports community, is quite simply a living example of someone who’s incredible passion has driven elite performance. In 2016 Rocky broke the World Record to become the world’s most capped female rugby player of all time earning 137 caps as an international rugby player for England. Whilst this record has been surpassed since retirement in 2018, Rocky remains the most capped front row forward in Women’s World Rugby. Rocky has rightly earned the ‘legend’ status. In Rocky’s own words she lived the dream she had always been dreaming of.
International caps did not come easily to Rocky when she first ventured in to the sport; she was required to dig deep to lose a significant amount of weight to ensure performance at the highest level. Her coaches at the time saw potential in her but it was Rocky’s own hard work and determination that ensured her future at the top end of the sport for the next 15 years. A four-time World Cup finalist, 8-time 6 Nations champion and 2014 World Champion Rocky knows exactly what it takes to perform under constant pressure.
Accolades for Rocky have come in bucket loads along with a Rugby Players Association player of the year award and an MBE following recognition on the New Year’s Honours list. Rocky was also part of the England Squad who won Team of the Year at the Sports Personality of the Year Awards in 2015.
Rocky is still playing rugby and following post international stints with Wasps and Saracens she now is truly flying the flag for community rugby running out with her local club Buckinghamshire Swans. When she is not playing, Rocky can still be found on the side of the pitch coaching and as one of just a handful of women in the country who hold the distinguished level 4 coaching award Rocky is a huge asset to the clubs and schools that she works with across the country.
Rocky is an inspiration to many for her personal determination and commitment over an extended period but also for her selfless devotion to the wider team. Her knowledge and understanding of performing under pressure, changes in team dynamics and effective leadership will resonate with the corporate audience whilst her stories from the pitch will enhance any after dinner occasion be it at a sports club or more informal business or school awards ceremony.
