Sophie Power
Ultrarunner, Campaigner, Author, Entrepreneur and Founder
Sophie Power is a British ultrarunner, campaigner and entrepreneur who has become, arguably, the most influential and impactful voice for women in endurance sport. She is the founder of SheRACES, a global campaign working with events and governing bodies to make racing more inclusive for women, from pregnancy deferrals to safer, more equitable start lines.
A self-confessed “non-runner” in childhood, Sophie started running aged 26 and has completed more than 60 ultramarathons around the world, including iconic races such as Spartathlon, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) and multi day 250km stage races across deserts and mountain ranges. She has represented Great Britain twice at the IAU 24 Hour World Championships, winning Team Gold in 2025. In 2024 she set a Guinness World Record as the fastest woman to run the length of Ireland, covering 347 miles from Malin Head to Mizen Head in 3 days, 12 hours and 8 minutes on just 2 hours 17 minutes of sleep.
Sophie rose to international prominence in 2018 when a photograph of her breastfeeding her three month old son mid race at UTMB went viral, sparking a global conversation about motherhood, sport and the structural barriers women face in endurance events. She has since used that platform to drive policy change, including persuading major marathons to introduce pregnancy deferral policies and working with brands, race organisers and federations on female insight and inclusion.
Alongside her athletic career, Sophie has held senior roles across investment banking, private equity and high growth businesses, including serving as CFO of a global marketing agency and CEO of an environmental technology company she co founded. She now sits on boards of growth stage companies and advises organisations that want to deliver positive social impact, particularly around gender equity and participation in sport.
This unique combination of high performance both in business and sport has resulted in Sophie becoming a highly sought after keynote speaker. Sophie talks to audiences ranging from global conferences and leadership teams to schools and sports festivals. Her themes include high performance and resilience, driving effective change, leadership under pressure, building inclusive cultures, navigating motherhood and career, and what ultrarunning teaches us about mindset, failure and courage.
She is also a Director of England Lacrosse and was named Woman of the Year 2023 by the Active Pregnancy Foundation for her impact on pregnant and postpartum women in sport. Sophie published her first book, “The Power Within: Record Breaking, Ultrarunning and Fighting for Change” in January 2026.
